How linking works

Two roles. Parent and Driver. The parent opens Moda, generates a 6-digit code, and shares it with their teen. Text it, say it out loud, write it on a napkin. Whatever works.

The teen enters the code in their app. That sends a link request. The parent gets a notification and approves or rejects it. That's it. The whole process takes about 30 seconds.

What parents see

Once linked, the parent's app shows their teen's full practice log. Every session with date, time, duration, supervisor, day or night, weather, and distance. Plus summary stats: total hours broken down by day and night, highway time, bad-weather hours, and overall progress toward the state requirement.

There's a "driving now" indicator too. When your teen starts a session, you'll see it in real time. Not GPS tracking. Just a simple signal that says they're practicing.

Parents can export their teen's log as a PDF for the DMV, or share a progress card to show family how things are going.

One purchase, two accounts

If a parent bought Moda, their linked driver gets full access for free. No second purchase needed. The purchase covers the family. Because making a teenager pay separately for an app their parent told them to use is annoying.

Unlinking

Parents can unlink anytime from Settings. If a teen initiates an unlink, it goes to the parent for approval before taking effect. Once unlinked, the parent loses access to the teen's data and the teen keeps all their session history. Clean break.

Encrypted sync

All shared data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Session details sync through Moda's cloud, but location data stays on the teen's device. A parent can see that their teen drove 12.4 miles on Tuesday night in the rain. They can't see the route. That's by design.
